The US Christmas shopping season kicked-off by 'Black Friday' is marred by a series of shootings as bargain-hunters flood stores.
The incidents, including three shootings, two robberies and a pepper spray attack mostly took place at branches of the American supermarket chain, Walmart.
A man is in a stable but critical condition after being shot in the early hours of Friday morning as he left a Walmart store in San Leandro, California.
Shots were fired when he resisted two armed robbers who demanded he hand-over the items he had just bought.
One of the most dramatic incidents took place in another Walmart store in Los Angeles, when a woman used pepper spray on fellow shoppers so that she could grab Xbox 360s.
In Myrtle Beach, South Carolina a woman was shot in the foot by a robber as she loaded her purchases into her car.
'Black Friday' is the single busiest shopping day of the year in the United States, where retailers hope to make a profit, and put their account ledgers in the black.
Half of the entire US population is expected to hit the shops this weekend.
Bargain-hunters swamp shops across the country to get their hands on heavy discounts of up to 70 per cent.

Amazing while these people are "being sought" no description is given.
We all know what that means.
That they are crocodiles?
Walmart attracts low-downs and scum like fresh dog shit attracts flies.
How much meditating on the statement has been given by all who are quick to comment? Wisdom comes with age. Could you possibly be missing something deeper? Possibly?
the younger people are taking notes on all of the wrong doing of the so called "Adults" that takes care of them and the rest of society.
that is why they continue the tradition of greed and hurting others in America.
